ODAEP In-School T.E.A.M Assemblies & Workshops



ODAEP T.E.A.M. Up! Literacy programs supplement NYC public school curricula by providing comprehensive in-school instruction to enhance student’s: technology and entrepreneurship literacy,appreciation for arts & culture,along with opportunities to create and publish their own media for social justice and community change.



ODAEP IN-SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES



ODAEP has refined the in-school assembly model to be an effective forum for capturing the imagination of hard-to-reach millennials. ODAEP’s expertise lies in facilitating large student forums and immersive experiences which give educators valuable opportunities to capture the attention of their student body a setting that is both communal and instructional.



01. Urban Block Party/Stop-Bullying Concert Tour



Viewing the modern assembly as an under-utilized format for exposing youth to important social themes and topics that are essential for holistic education, ODAEP's Urban Block Party (UBP) Concert Series tackles systemic bullying/cyber-bullying, youth violence, and intolerance among youth. ODAEP-UBP Concerts energize students and educators alike by engaging all of their senses—through music, media, and interactive skits in order to deepen the impact of it’s themes and messaging.

02. Black History Mini Docs



ODAEP is the presenting sponsor for Black History Mini Docs (BHMD) an innovative portfolio of 90 second docu-narratives created by acclaimed filmmakers Neema Barnette’s and Reed McCants. BHMD uses stylish and rhythmic cinematic storytelling designed specifically for millennial audiences and offers students a fascinating anthology covering the significant achievements of African Americans in US History.

03. L.E.A.D. (Local Entrepreneurship Achievement Day)



ODAEP’s Local Entrepreneurship Achievement Day (LEAD) program was developed as an alternative to traditional school career days. Emphasizing entrepreneurial innovation and technical skills development students need to be competitive in the 21st Century, ODAEP-LEAD favors apprenticeship over internship to enhance student awareness and choice of future careers. ODAEP-LEAD brings students into direct contact with highly successful local entrepreneurs, who oftentimes share similar backgrounds with students, thereby providing an accessible role model and source of inspiration.

04. Get-Schooled/Citywide Entrepreneurship Forum



ODAEP/Get-Schooled Citywide Youth Entrepreneurship Forum is co-sponsored youth conference and assembly where over 200 high school student attendees who have participated in ODAEP’s business education program (Vanguarde Student Ventures) gather for an intimate “fire-side chat” with accomplished entrepreneurs and executives possessing inspirational pathways to success. Previous guests featured distinguished guest speakers such as acclaimed fashion designer Marc Ecko, Hip-Hop Author/Activist & Community Organizer Kevin Powel

Featured IN-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS



ODAEP_West African Dance Program



ODAEP Dance Programs offer Contemporary Jazz & Hip-Hop, African, & Musical Theatre. Classes are geared towards learning cutting-edge choreography for video in addition to improving technique, body conditioning, and improvisation, as well as developing style, stage presence, and confidence. Students also work in small groups to create their own routines that are featured in a live theatre performance.



ODAEP-Vanguarde Student Ventures



ODAEP’s Vanguarde Student Ventures is a project-based youth entrepreneurship program that gives students advanced business and technical skills training while teaching them how to develop original business concepts and corresponding marketing plans. The ODAEP-VSV curriculum emphasizes student creative exploration and soft
skills development which will ultimately prepare them for success in the world of business and in work.



ODAEP-Idea Mechanics



ODAEP's IDEA Mechanics program provides a unique graphic programming language optimized for touch screen devices. Student users create applications on a smart device by dropping and ordering blocks on a screen, then executes the commands to a paired robotic rover by pressing the play button! Behind each visualization is real exportable code, thus ensuring every part of the ODAEP-IDEA program maintains academic rigor and offers maximum educational value.



ODAEP-West African Drumming



ODAEP signature Arts Education programs combine visual and performing arts instruction, along with leadership development training, and 21st Century skills building. ODAEP Arts Programs include but are not limited to: Contemporary Jazz & Hip-Hop, West African Dance and Drumming Programs, Hip Hop Poetry and Musical Theatre, for elementary, intermediate, and secondary school students.



ODAEP Youth Theatre Program



ODAEP Theatre Arts programs employs a research based approach combining performing arts education, leadership development, and 21st Century skills building practice for High-School-Aged students. ODAEP Theatre Arts engages students via theatre games, role play, and interactive group discussions aimed at building core communication skills while examining subjects such as self-image, conflict resolution, and more.



ODAEP-SHEWINS Girls Mentoring Program



#SheWINS is a unique ODAEP program designed to serve young women on the brink of success, helping them develop social, emotional, and professional awareness through self-exploration. By building self-confidence and their unique voice #SheWINS participants become catalysts for life-long positive change. ​



ODAEP-Media Entrepreneurship Bootcamp



ODAEP Media Entrepreneurship program is an innovative media literacy program that educates and exposes youth to advanced media technology and career opportunities by bringing them together with industry professionals to produce original projects in the form of Public Service Announcements (PSA’s). Students also learn how media can be used entrepreneurially by analyzing and visiting local business case studies for “real-world” publishing and monetization strategies.



ODAEP-MY1CHANGE Social Media Workshop



My 1 Change (M1C) is a unique social media education program for students interested in becoming effective change agents in their community. The vision of M1C is to use the digital upbringing of youth as an access point for developing students from diverse backgrounds into capable communicators and leaders who work to create a more welcoming and inclusive society. M1C is therefore a call to action--empowering students to focus on the “1 Change” they can directly effect as an important contribution to broader and sustainable change in our communities.
